The sheetfed inkjet press, capable of printing more than 4,500 SRA3 sheets per hour at 4/4, arrived in early February. Installed in a dedicated unit modified to control the print environment, the new press has not replaced any single machine, instead taking short-run work off the company’s Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106.
“We are thrilled to announce the addition of our first inkjet press,” Farid Malik, sales director at Print Plus UK told Printweek.
“We believe this technology has truly reached its full potential, and with decreasing run lengths, it’s a perfect fit for our needs. We’re particularly impressed with the built-in systems that ensure consistent quality across long runs. The press’ industry-leading uptime is a major advantage, significantly boosting our overall efficiency.”
Malik listed several benefits to the company’s product portfolio, including the ability to produce premium quality brochures with a very quick turnaround, added capacity to Print Plus’ short-run greetings card and brochure offering, and enhanced print quality available for the firm’s e-commerce print-on-demand service at short and medium runs.
“It’s had great effects on a lot of the luxury brochure work that we do,” Malik explained.
“A 750-copy run of 88pp brochures with a special colour that might have taken a good part of a shift to get right can now be printed in a couple of hours.”
Print Plus bought the machine directly from Canon, having seen it in action at Drupa 2024.
“We are very pleased with the machine, the installation, and the training provided by Canon thus far. It aligns perfectly with our requirements,” Malik added.
Print Plus employs around 27 staff and is on course to achieve revenues of £4m this year – which the team would like to grow even further.
Malik said: “Next year, our goal is to reach £4.5m turnover, and to streamline our production further.”
