In development for months, the 5 March rebrand will offer the group a united front for its offering of gift, hotel, loyalty and membership cards – of which it can print and fulfil up to 250m per year from its three sites in Macclesfield, Skelmersdale and Colchester.
“It just makes sense,” said Adam Unsworth, group commercial director of Certus.
He told Printweek: “It’s the coming together of the two brands, which makes sense both from a customer point of view, and for our staff. In the past 18 months, we’ve been working very closely together [between Incodia and PCS] and sharing resources to maximise efficiencies.
“It gives clarity to customers, and for our staff it gives the message that we are a united company.”
Incodia and Precision Card Services were both acquired in the first half of 2023 by Irish investment firm Woodberry Packaging, a subsidiary of Woodberry Capital, with Woodberry keen to keep adding titles to the new Certus portfolio.
“The owners are very ambitious, and they’re constantly on the lookout for complementary businesses,” Unsworth said.
Certus, which means ‘sure, reliable, steady, or trustworthy’ in Latin, was chosen to represent the companies’ focus on good, reliable service.
“In all of our feedback sessions [with customers and staff] reliability was the core value that kept coming through. We have good reputations in the marketplace, both as PCS and Incodia: they’re both service-based organisations, and so bringing them together under a name that captured that was important.”
The group employs around 130 across a combined 8,400sqm of factory space, with revenues just over £19m. In 2025, it hopes to hit £20m.
“We want to go from strength to strength in our key markets with the combined power [of the brands],” Unsworth said.
“We have a huge focus on sustainability, and it’s onwards and upwards.”
