The Chipping Sodbury-based printer moved into short-run book production last year when it installed a BQ270 perfect binder.

Azimuth's turnover has risen to £1.6m over the past year, enabling Azimuth to add the collator.

Tony Edmonds, who set the company up in 1989, said: "We invested in the BQ270 to make the most of the growing print-on-demand book market. This proved to be very popular and we were getting more and more requests for longer runs."

The 10-station system features touchscreen and a remote handset to aid control while loading or unloading. It also has a Horizon advanced suction rotor drum feeding system, which can handle a wide variety of paper stocks at high speeds.

Azimuth currently employs 18 people and uses two Heidelberg Speedmasters and a Konica Minolta Bizhub, as well as an Epson wide-format machine.
