Print Efficiently deemed a success as further debuts announced

Vendors have branded the first Print Efficiently event a success and said they will almost certainly follow it up with a second show.

The event, which took place at Intelligent Finishing Systems' (IFS) Perivale showroom this week (7-9 June) and will continue next week (14-16 June), saw a host of suppliers from all areas of the industry showing how their kit can work together.

It was announced previously that the Kodak Nexpress SX Digital Production Colour Press and Kern K305 would be given UK debuts at the show.

However, a late addition to the line-up was the StitchLiner 6000 Digital, which features the HSF30S high-speed sheet feeder.

The system features two stream paths that create a buffer zone allowing sets to be advanced downstream to the StitchLiner at the optimum rate, enabling the printer and the StitchLiner to operate at optimum production speeds.

Another machine to be given a last-minute UK debut was the Petratto Metro multi function folder gluer.

The machine can provide a range of applications including credit card and CD gluing using removable hot melt glue, carton boxes, wraparounds and envelopes.

IFS managing director Bryan Godwyn said: "One of the things that printers worry about is whether machines will work together; here we can show them that it does: there is a CTP unit feeding a press, which is feeding the finishing department, you can see it all working together.

"I think this kind of event is definitely the future and we would hope to have another one at some point."

Press manufacturer Komori also featured its Enthrone 29 at the show. General sales manager Steve Turner said: "One of the advantages of a show like this is that there is no pressure to break the machine up as soon as it finishes. We will leave the Enthrone here for a while and it will give us a chance to bring potential customers to look at it at a later date."

Print Efficiently has also been a hive of innovation, with vendors experimenting in using their products together.

MagnetNotes, a new UK business launched by Roy Quigley which sells magnetic paper, spent some of the show testing its material on a Busch ram punch. Bob Cawte of Busch said: "The one worry we had was the magnet would stick to the metal but it goes straight through. It was an interesting development."

Other companies that are present at the event are humidification provider Airtec, paper drill manufacturer Durselen, Foliant, Lake Image Systems, glue nozzle supplier Nordson, pressroom product manufacturer Pomeroy, Renz, Shuttleworth and paper supplier Vision.
