The Website Leeds says it has saved £2m following a £1m investment in secondhand machinery over the past six months.
As well as a 12-unit Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 with Cutstar, which it bought from Roberts Graphics, the Leeds-based company has also installed a raft of finishing machinery, including a Muller Prima Plus AMRYS, a Bograma TS450 inline die-cutting machine, an MBO T800 folding machine, five Buhrs BB600 enclosing lines, three Palamides Delta stacker-paper banders, and a pile turner.
According to the company’s Martin Whetton, much of the equipment was nearly new, but would have cost the company more than three times as much if it had been bought new. He said: "A lot of the machines have been barely broken in."
The investment has allowed the company to increase its services and bring in more work from both new and existing customers.
The Website Leeds has a turnover of £12m and currently employs 120 staff, a number that has grown 20% in the last 12 months. Whetton added that the company was also looking to buy a web press in the near future.
