| Efficiency remains a concern for packaging and processing machinery industry |
Despite the advancements in processing and packaging machinery over the last decade, over a third (39%) of professionals think that more could be done to improve efficiency.
The poll, conducted by the organisers of the PPMA Show, also revealed that there is concern about the ability to recruit the right talent (27%) with implications on the competitive edge of companies within the industry.
The PPMA Show, which returns to Birmingham’s NEC from the 27-29 September, aims to tackle these concerns, as Archana Sharma, PPMA Show Marketing Manager, explains: "From this research we can see that a lack of efficiency and shortage of professionals with the right skills are clearly two of the industry’s biggest concerns.
"The PPMA Show will address these worries; providing a platform for professionals to discover more effective solutions and meet young talent from across the industry all in one location."
More than 300 world-class suppliers and service providers, including top names such as Riggs Autopack, Kliklock International, Markem-Imaje, QuickLabel Systems, Sealpac Ltd and T Freemantle, are set to showcase their innovations at the biennial event. With exhibitors ranging from smaller niche businesses from across the UK’s industrial hotspots to well-known international players, visitors will have the opportunity to meet a variety of companies all under one roof. The show’s co-location with Interplas 2011 also means that visitors attending the PPMA Show will gain entry to the UK’s leading triennial plastics industry gathering.
The PPMA Show will be launching a new feature this year, the Ones to Watch, that aims to celebrate young talent within the industry and highlight some of the great work they do. UK individuals who are aged under 35 and have worked in the industry for more than four years are eligible and the top five will form part of an Achievement Gallery at the event. Awards will then be presented to winners at an exclusive drinks reception on the 27 September.
