| IFS launches entry-level Horizon folder |
Finishing equipment supplier Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS) has launched the latest Horizon folder to the UK.
Horizon has also upgraded the HT-30C trimmer.
The PF-40L paper folder features a uniquely designed suction rotor feeding mechanism, enabling it to handle stocks from 52.3gsm up to 157gsm.
At 320x630mm, it can take a wider sheet size than any of Horizon’s previous, similarly sized folders.
Commenting on the £9,000 machine, IFS technical director Alan Harrison said: "That is an A4 6-page, a standard size for leaflet brochures. Horizon has not offered this size before and this offers the different speed function and is a little bit more compact than previously."
The machine is more compact than its predecessors and is aimed at short-run digital printers.
It also features a high capacity feed table, that can hold up to 1,300 sheets, in order to minimise loading during longer runs.
It features a five speed option, with a maximum of 390 sheets per minute and also features a quiet mode for office environments.
Fold patterns include single and double parallel to short fold, accordion and open gatefold.
High grip urethane rubber fold rollers, with an adjustable gap, allows for tight folds regardless of paper weight.
Meanwhile, Horizon has added a variable size option to its HT-30C three-side trimmer.
The £34,750 machine can now feature a barcode reader that will enable it to change cutting sizes automatically.
Harrison added: "This turns it into a complete one of one trimmer. The machine will sit alongside the BQ270 and BQ470 which have automatic set-up so can handle one-off book runs.
"Previously if you wanted to change the size of a book on the HT-30C you would have to trim one book, then reset it before putting the next one in."
It can handle a maximum thickness of 51mm, while the feed table can accept a maximum pile of 300mm.
