| NTF upgrades with guillotine and folder buys |
Nottingham Trade Finishers (NTF) has installed a Schneider guillotine from Friedheim, as well as a second-hand MBO folder spotted while searching for a guillotine.
The company installed the Schneider Senator S-Line 115H this week (16 November) to replace a machine that has been running since the 1980s.
It follows the installation of a three-year old MBO B30 six-plate folder from Roberts Graphics, installed last week. Combined, the two machines cost £55,000.
NTF managing director Richard Anstock said: "We actually went to Roberts looking for a guillotine, they didn’t have anything for us, but we saw the folder. It was more of a want purchase than a need purchase, but sometimes these deals come along and you can’t turn them down.
"You don’t often see a three-year-old six-plate on the market these days, certainly not in the condition this one was, or for the price.
Anstock has replaced an aging folder, also in use since the 80s, continuing a revamp of the five-year-old businesses kit.
He added: "When we started up most of the kit we bought had been in use since the mid 80s. Over the last year we have replaced a forklift, a couple of folders and a guillotine. It gives us a fighting chance if we are as up-to-date as we can be.
"Sometimes you can throw good money after bad repairing old machines. Usually I don’t like to buy new, but we got a good deal on the guillotine, so we decided to go for it."
The company has also achieved ISO 9001 quality accreditation and ISO 14001 environmental accreditation.
