| Anton Group boosts variable data throughput with Duplo finishing kit |
Anton Group has installed a Duplo Digital System 5000 Pro Bookletmaker and a DC 745e digital cutter/creaser to improve the efficiency of its variable data printing operation.
The Laindon, Essex-based group, which has eight Kodak Nexpress printers, invested in the new finishing kit after seeing huge growth in demand for its variable data products, which now account for around 90% of its digital work.
Anton Group digital press manager Bryan Knight said the company chose the Duplo system for its ability to track digital work.
"During our digital expansion, we have acquired some large, high-profile accounts that require complex variable data work," he said. "Much of this work contains very sensitive data and as a result, integrity has to be priority number one.
"The barcoding system on the new bookletmaker means we are able to track every single booklet it produces. Any errors are flagged up immediately and the rest of the run is not affected."
Knight added that the DC-745e cutter/creaser had enabled the company to reduce bottlenecks by automating tasks that were previously performed on separate machines.
"Some applications that require not only cutting and creasing, but also perforating or scoring, were previously very laborious and multiple devices were required to achieve the required finish. Now we are seeing a saving in time and a reduction in wastage," he said.
The £43m-turnover Anton Group has 359 staff.
