It will also expand on ADM’s existing range of flavours and ingredients as the global natural food colours and flavours market is forecast to grow significantly over the next four years.

An hour from Shanghai, the facility has various production capabilities including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages; sweet goods; health related/functional foods; and dairy/dairy alternatives. 

ADM chair and CEO Juan Luciano said: “Since our acquisition of Wild Flavors in 2014, we’ve invested in organic growth, bolt on and platform M&A, and new innovations and technologies to build ADM into a premier global human and animal nutrition company.” 

In April the company opened a lab in Singapore for plant-based innovations and is collaborating with Jiagnan University to develop new food sciences and technology at its Human Nutrition Science & Technology Centre in China.

“Our new, leading edge flavour facility in Pinghu will serve as ADM’s flavour supply hub in APAC, allowing us to leverage our expertise and leading-edge technologies and build out the ADM pantry to further meet customer needs and advance our growth strategy,” he said. 

The facility will provide the company with dosing technology for its automated flavour lines, systems to maintain efficient management and is in the midst of attaining ISO 9001, FSSC 22000 V5.1, Halal and Kosher certifications.

ADM’s has facilities in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney.
