The 2023 edition of Sign & Digital UK (SDUK) is opening its doors at the NEC, Birmingham tomorrow (21 March).

The three-day event will conclude on Thursday and confirmed exhibitors include Roland DG, Epson UK, Premier, Hexis UK, Vivid Laminating Technologies, and SwissQprint.

Event director Jenny Matthew said: “Last year we had a great show, even though the country was just getting used to the idea of getting out again. However, this year promises to be a no-holds-barred celebration of all that is good and great in the wonderful world of signmaking and large-format digital printing.

“I have spoken to many people who say that SDUK 2023 will be their first opportunity to see the latest technology and innovation for several years, and they can’t wait. And neither can we!”

Features will include the Hexis UK Wrap Battle, giving visitors a chance to see the best of the vehicle wrapping profession as they demonstrate their skills in a battle of speed and accuracy to claim the title of Best UK Installer 2023.

Meanwhile, The Sign Studio will feature live demonstrations and practical workshops hosted by experienced signmaker Paul Hughes. These sessions will allow visitors to learn more about the basics of vinyl application, vehicle livery, wallcoverings and more.

Additionally, the International Sign Association UK (ISA-UK) is back to host the SDUK Explains Lounge as well as a new feature, the Sign Surgery.

The Explains Lounge will host a full programme of presentations designed to engage, inform, and inspire visitors. All of the sessions are free to attend and there’s no need to book.

The Sign Surgery, meanwhile, will offer an informal environment where visitors can put questions to ISA-UK directors.

Several exhibitors have also outlined what they plan to show at the event.

The Fujifilm Acuity Prime will be demonstrated by Josero, which has recently been appointed as a Fujifilm Acuity Prime partner to supply the range to customers in the UK.

Roland DG, meanwhile, will showcase machines from its TrueVIS range, including its first-ever resin printer, the AP-640 and the MG and LG series of UV print and cut machines. Alongside these newest machines, the VG3-640 and SG3-540/300 printer/cutter machines will also be on display alongside several other pieces of kit.

Trotec said it will show “laser systems to suit all budget requirements”, with SDUK marking the return of its SP3000 laser cutter to a UK trade show, while Mimaki’s exclusive distributor for the UK and Ireland, Hybrid Services, will show kit including the recently unveiled TxF150-75 direct-to-film (DTF) inkjet printer.

Brett Martin has just unveiled Keencut as its newest approved partner, and the two businesses will be collaborating for the first time at the show, on Soyang Europe’s stand. Keencut will be cutting Brett Martin’s 10mm Foamalux Light, Foamalux Eco, and 3mm Marcryl acrylic, using Keencut’s SteelTrak cutter and Evolution3 SmartFold cutter, after the materials are printed using a Fujifilm Acuity Prime printer.

SwissQprint will show a raft of printers and applications, including neon inks, texture printing and 3D effects, as well as live demonstrations on its flatbed printer the Nyala 4. Its dedicated roll-to-roll printer the Karibu will also be shown.
