| PackPlus 2010 Closes On A High Note |
On spot sales and serious enquiries mark another successful edition
The 2010 edition of PackPlus- the Total Packaging, Processing and Supply Chain Event closed on a successful note on 6 December at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Spread over an area of 12,000 sqm, the exhibition with 350+ Exhibitors, 100+ product launches, 230+ running machineries and several other attractions had a footfall
11, 423 visitors from all over the country and abroad. Complementing the exhibition were a whole host of exciting new product launches and interactive demonstrations.
Marking new innovations in filling, sealing, packing, weighing and gluing systems, the Packaging Zone at PackPlus 2010 hosted the launch of several products. Bosch Packaging technology introduced Transwrap 1650 packaging machine,
which above the benefits of flexibility and cost efficiency, is constructed of corrosion resistant material which extends the machine capability to pack aggressive products. Apart from catering to basic needs of packaging,
Transwrap 1650 also offers product protective gas flushing system that assists in keeping packaged products fresh. Hitachi character inkjet printer from Bhavmark Systems was another new attraction of the Packaging Zone. This high speed printer is categorized as a non-contact marking system that prints variable product information directly on various substrates.
Hassia Packaging launched its High-speed twin bagger 110T machine at PackPlus 2010. With a speed of upto 225 ppm in intermittent version and upto 275 ppm in continuous version, the specifications of the bagger is strategically positioned to produce pouches with a maximum width of 110 mm (film width of 245 mm) and length of up to 175 mm.
Checkweigher from Ishida India, Vertical cup filling system from Hassia Packaging, Shrink film from Vibgyor International and Hotmelt handgun gluing system from Robatech India were some of the other launches of the segment.
The Converting Zone witnessed the launch of slitter rewinder machine from Pelican Rotoflex, a new range of rotogravure printing press from Kohli under technical collaboration with Uteco Converting Spa and several other revolutionary products. With the theme of ‘moving you forward’,
QuadTech Inc launched solutions that drive efficiencies into the printing of a wide variety of substrates from flexible film to corrugated. “Our packaging SBU works ‘hand-in-hand’ with packaging printers and converters to ensure that Quadtech solutions meet or exceed expectations in performance, servicing and training,” stated Randy Freeman, Vice President & General Manager of Packaging.
Delta Group introduced a set of AC Servo Motor & Drives with Built-in E-cam function and Position Control PR Mode under the Processing Zone. The company’s C2000 series of AC motor drive has taken drive technology to the next level. “With the launch of this drive, Delta secures its position among the country’s top automation solution providers, In recent years we have integrated our industrial automation products, developed industrial control networks, and offered integration services to our clients around the world,” said Manish Walia from Delta India and SAARC region.
Through its accumulated expertise in sensing and control technology, Omron Automation has contributed a lot in improving the productivity of manufacturers. The company launched a gamut of new range Automation Products including the CJ2 PLC - with most advance features built-into it, smallest safety scanner OS32C, new range of variable frequency drives MX2 and new range of FQ vision sensors.
Belting Enterprises presented its advanced range of conveyor belts & roll-ring self adjusting chain tensioner under the Supply Chain Zone. Other launches in the segment were Automatic pallet wrapping robot & 100% dry lubrication system from S V Modular Conveyors, Conveyor for efficient small product handling & lab automation from Flexlink Systems India,
Bag closing machine with new range of maintenance free UHM conveyor from Stitchwell Machinery and Mobile computers, mobile data terminals, cordless and corded barcode scanners, fix data terminals and software solutions from Cipher-Lab.
Live demonstrations of machines at the exhibition attracted several serious visitors who got a chance to touch and feel the machines. The business environment ignited several on- spot deals and leads. “The exhibition helped us promote our latest technologies on the global platform and the conference and workshops helped us identify the areas we need to work on. On business front also, the quality of visitors initiated several leads.
We have sold one of our machines and have received several orders during the Show,”
said Lavkush Shukla from Kody Equipments.
“This exhibition has given the end user a real and tangible insight on how our machines operate. We sold one of our sealing and cutting machines to Khandelwal Polymers, Jabalpur and received several other serious inquiries,” stated Anil Gehlot from Gehlot Industries. N-Tex Engineering Works sold its flexographic printing machine to Goel Packaging Industries, Delhi. “Several other deals are also in pipeline,” revealed Dev Ranjan from N-Tex. Uflex Ltd. sold its form-fill-seal machine to Kolis Food, Kolkata. “We have received order for another machine as well,” said Lalit Kumar from Uflex.
For Inpack Machines, it was a double deal. The company sold its spice powder packing machine to Nestle Masala Mills, Kashmir and Rotary cup filler to JJ Food Pvt. Ltd, Delhi.
With several new technologies on display and the large gamut of machines on run, it was a valuable experience for the visitors as well. “I never miss the chance of visiting PackPlus. It is a great place to meet up with the industry leaders. It also gives an opportunity to explore the high end applications and new environment friendly applications,” said Ravi Sood from Yashi Foods-Noida, a regular visitor to the various editions of the Show.
K.P Singh, General Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Corrugated Box Manufacturers Association, found the Show to be a perfect place for discovering latest innovations in the industry. Chand Rai from Cheeka & Cherry, another visitor to the Show, said, “When you decide on buying a new machine for your factory, there can not a better place than a related exhibition to choose one of the best from the industry. PackPlus has provided us with a perfect business platform.”
Adding value to the main event was the annually held PackAge Conference, which in its 2010 edition focused on ‘Packaging Conversion’. With 87 attendees, the one day conference scheduled on 2 Dec 2010 at Pragati Maidan delved deep into issues pertaining to the industry. AIMCAL Converting School was back after a hiatus last year with Dr. David Roisum for a yet another educative session on Web handling & Converting and Winding.
All India Food Processors’ Association (AIFPA), in association with Print-Packaging.Com Pvt. Ltd. also organized a one day Conference on ‘Inclusive Growth of Food Processing Industry’ on December 3 to a packed hall at the venue. Subodh Kant Sahai, Hon’ble Union Minister of Food Processing Industry, with his presence in the Conference, shared growth figures of the industry and encouraged the association to come up with development proposals. The Annual General Meeting of the association followed the conference.
With its theme ‘Meeting Operational Challenges in Modern Packaging through
Industrial Automation’, the second edition of Automation4Packaging Workshop was organized on December 4 at Pragati Maidan. Print-Packaging.com (P) Ltd and Automation Industry Association (AIA) together brought their strengths in the respective domains to address the issues relating to contemporary automation needs of the modern packaging industry in India.
With the success of the 2010 edition, PackPlus gears itself for its Southern edition to be held from 1-4 July at HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad.
PackPlus will be back with its 2011 edition next winter at New Delhi, and this time at a new venue. The Show is scheduled from December 7-10, 2011 at NSIC Exhibition Centre, Okhla Industrial Estate at New Delhi. The converting Zone will not be a part of the PackPlus 2011 as it will move to Mumbai to be held separately in the next November.
India Converting Show together with India Flexo Show and India Corrugated Show that traditionally form the Converting zone at the Pack Plus exhibition will now be organized separately from November 23-26, 2011 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, in deference to the wishes of the exhibitors who would like to explore the western markets.
