| Douglas Storrie Labels installs world's first Edale FL-350 flexo press |
Printer Douglas Storrie Labels has installed the first Edale FL-350 flexographic press, which is to be officially launched next week at Label Expo.
The Lancashire-based company chose the FL-350, which has a 350mm web width and a maximum speed of 200m/min, because of the machine’s quick changeover - the press uses Edale’s ‘Pit Stop Colour Change system’ which enables operators to complete a full colour change in less than 90 seconds per station.
Douglas Storrie Labels sales manager Neil Livermore said: "We produce good quality printed labels and this machine’s quick changeover makes it cost effective. We did contemplate going digital but we felt this machine is more versatile which will allow us to target different markets rather than staying still.
"It’s also nice to buy a British press and have the money go back into the British economy." He added.
Douglas Storrie Labels has 18 staff.
Edale’s head of sales and marketing Jeremy Westcott said: "The Edale FL-350 sets a benchmark for narrow web presses designed to produce top quality labels, with their owners focused on minimum machine downtime and material wastage."
Other features of the FL-350 include a pre-register system which locates print cylinders in register before any substrate is used; servo technology which gives accurate control of printing and converting; auto-register as standard; and job storage, which allows production settings to be stored and recalled in the future.
