| Pukka Pads makes double acquisition |
Stationery and office products manufacturer Pukka Pads’ managing director Chris Stott has returned to his first place of work to move his current company into the business forms sector.
The Poole-based business has acquired business forms printer Inspired Forms, a company created out of the ashes of Rediset, as well as Grimsby-based duplicate forms manufacturer Cardinal Brands.
Stott started at Rediset when he was just 15, working his way up to sales director, before becoming the owner of Pukka Pads in 2005.
When he intended to move his £12m-turnover company into the business forms market, he immediately turned to his old colleagues.
He said: "I wanted to improve the portfolio of the business, when the opportunity to take on Inspired Forms came about I jumped at it. I wanted to get hold of Rediset when it first went into administration, but that didn’t work out.
"It used to be a much bigger business and we will be looking to get them back to where they were a few years ago. We have a lot of firepower and bringing both Inspired Forms and Cardinal Brands into that can only help them."
A total of 30 employees moved to Pukka Pads through the Cardinal Brands acquisition, while a further nine moved from Inspired Forms, which will now be known as Pukka Pads Business Forms.
Stott said that the two businesses brought with them a combined turnover of around £3m, although he intended to increase that and was already planning investments at both Grimsby and Poole in the near future.
He added: "I envisage a spell of rebound in NCR pads. I think it has gone too far, people are printing out to many copies in the office, NCR is the way forward and I see that coming back."
As well as its Poole headquarters, Pukka Pads has warehousing facilities in Leicester and Poland, as well as its own facility in Shanghai, which it set up three years ago. The business employs 150 staff worldwide, 70 of which are based in the UK.
