Heavy Duty Performance Packaging gets Leaner and Lighter

Up to seven meters around the outside, a ‘Big Box’, made with Encase EcoWall corrugated board, offers automotive and heavy component packers, warehouses and shippers new, very strong and lightweight, low-cost containers of every size. EcoWall corrugated board is fully recyclable.

Designed for a huge range of applications from protecting fragile fluorescent tubes to heavy, high-value automotive components, Encase Performance Packaging is now available nationwide. With the benefit of EcoWall sheet sizes up to 2.5m x 4.5m, Encase have the capability to produce a box up to seven metres perimeter and has developed its heavy-duty performance packaging to meet the largest and toughest task for corrugated packaging. It may possibly replace some wooden packaging and is ideal for corrugated board pallets.

This new range of EcoWall high-performance substrates give greater strength and cushioning, offer higher print resolution and are thinner and lighter than older substrates.

The Encase Big Box when made with EcoWall offers one of the UK’s biggest boxes made from one of the UK’s strongest and lightest corrugated board, EcoWall. Encase has been able to develop its EcoWall range with pioneering fluting thanks to having one of the most modern corrugators in the UK enabling thicker-than-normal paper to be fluted into thinner-than-normal board. It offers EC, BB, BM and the groundbreaking new single-wall M-flute. Test results show exceptional performance so that Encase customers now have the benefit of lighter and stronger heavy-duty corrugated board from an established UK supplier, independent of paper mills.

· Encase and the Environment. Corrugated board is recognised as an environmentally-friendly product, fully biodegradable and fully recyclable, up to six times! Encase also uses biodegradable inks for decorative printing and graphics. The board is manufactured from at least 70 percent virgin fibre pulp (produced under FSC certification) which consists of forest thinnings and waste from sawmills. The remaining 30 percent of the raw pulp material is from recycled fibre.

Encase corrugated manufacturing plants are totally CFC free and manufacture to the latest ISO environmental standards.

To minimise its carbon footprint, Encase regularly has energy reviews at all facilities and Encase is working to optimise delivery systems so customers still get what they want, when they want it but without unnecessary environmental impact.

The new substrates Encase produces are thinner in calliper and have logistical and storage benefits – reducing vehicle movements and thereby carbon dioxide emissions.
