Pureprint Group has taken on an intelligent automated enclosing line to expand its direct mail capabilities and support significant contract wins.

The Quadient DS-1200 G4i folder inserter was installed in July at the company’s 13,700sqm factory in Uckfield, East Sussex and came with AIMS-500 Software for automated compliance and reporting.

The new machine enables automated multiple item matching, maximum volume mail sorting, and reduced downtime between job changeover, resulting in increased volume output per day.

The DS-1200 G4i is designed to operate at 12,000 items per hour. It can fold up to 26,000sph plus add up to eight separate inserts. The machine’s fully automatic job change enables completion of a wide variety of jobs, even involving different envelope sizes, in a single day, while switching from one job to another takes minutes.

Pureprint said the investment has further enhanced its in-house offering by enabling cost efficiency for large volume, as well as daily smaller volume direct mail jobs, while providing the compliance and evidence trail that many financial and utility clients require.

Overall speed to market has also improved, giving clients a faster turnaround time, the business added.

Pureprint’s direct mail team has also expanded with the addition of Simon Harding, formerly of Ink Direct and MBA Group, joining the group earlier this month.

Pureprint Group employs more than 400 staff and has a turnover in excess of £65m. It produces corporate, retail, creative, and fine art printing and has invested over £20m in the last five years.

The company’s installations of a Horizon Stitchliner Mark III in early 2022 and a Muller Martini Primera in June helped it to make significant productivity gains on the line. The business also installed a 10-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 B1 press in February.
