Fujifilm is introducing a new High Value mode to its Jet Press 750S High Speed Model that offers a third production option in addition to its existing High Quality and High Performance modes.

The new High Value mode sits in between Jet Press High Quality and High Performance modes. It prints at the same 1,200x1,200dpi native resolution as High Quality mode, but without the need for the rapid coagulation primer (RCP).

Fujifilm said this intermediate level would be suitable for applications that do not require the ultimate highest quality that the Jet Press High Quality mode can produce and, as it uses no RCP, running costs are reduced.

Mark Stephenson, Fujifilm Europe digital press and print manager, told Printweek: “This will benefit, primarily, the owner of a Jet Press in being able to offer more flexibility.

“If a customer says that they like the high quality of the Jet Press but want something that sits in between high quality and high speed, or if the printer wants to say to their customer they can offer them a reduction in price for a small sacrifice in quality rather than a larger sacrifice, then they’ve got that negotiating place when they’re talking to their customers.

“But at the same time, the customer never needs to know – the printer can decide if this mode is appropriate for a certain job and use it. It just offers more choice, and a way of making the Jet Press address more of the market.”

Fujifilm is also introducing the option of increased feed and delivery stack heights to the Jet Press 750S. The additional 300mm height means 1,000 extra sheets of 300μm folding carton board – an increase of 37% – can be used.

It said this also has the added benefit of increasing non-stop running time to over an hour for folding carton stock, and to more than two hours for thinner commercial stocks.

“This is mainly for people using board. The customers of ours that are printing on board were pointing out that, especially in High Performance mode, it wasn’t long before they needed to wheel another pallet, so [asked if we could] get more in the stack,” said Stephenson.

The High Value Mode and the increased capacity options will both be available “from early 2023”.

There will be an additional cost to existing users should they wish to add the upgraded features, with Fujifilm engineers visiting customer sites to assist with this process.
